Biopsychosocial Analysis of Mental Health Trajectories Platform Masters, Doctoral and Postdoctoral awards

The Biopsychosocial Analysis of Mental Health Trajectories Platform offers several fellowships to MSc students, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows supervised by members of the Quebec Network on Suicide, Mood Disorders and Associated Disorders, with the aim of using the genome-wide genotype data collected from participants from the Quebec Longitudinal Study of Child Development (931 children followed from birth to adolescence) and the Quebec Newborn Twin Study (481 children followed from birth to adolescence and 468 parents). These projects should focus on the genetic and environmental risks factors underlying emotional and behavioral difficulties, the development of internalizing (e.g., depression) and externalizing (e.g., aggression) problems, as well as suicidal risk.

The available budget for this call is $30,000 to be used to finance:

– three masters or doctoral fellowships of $10,000

Or

– a postdoctoral fellowships of $20,000 and one doctoral fellowships of $10 000

Supervisors will be asked to top-up these fellowships, if applicable.

How to apply

PhD students and postdoctoral fellows who wish to apply must:

  • Be registered as MSc or PhD students at the time of application, or, for the post-doctoral fellowship, have defended their doctorate less than 5 years prior to 30 November 2022.
  • Send a cover letter (1 page maximum) 1) describing their training and experience in genetically informed analysis, 2) indicating the name of their supervisor and mentioning that they are a member of the Network, 3) specifying their commitment to carry out the proposed project if the award is awarded.
  • Send a project proposal that involves the analysis of genetic data (1 page maximum). Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise in quantitative or molecular genetics.
  • Send a copy of their most recent transcript (for masters and doctoral students).
