Mission

The mission of the RQSHA is to promote multidisciplinary and interprofessional research on the characterization of the suicidal phenomenon, interventions for its prevention and treatment by promoting networking between the scientific community, professionals and non-professionals from clinical, community and patient environments. and families, creating leverage for research funding, training the next generation, developing strategic initiatives and transferring knowledge.

Objectives

In order to fulfill its mission in the Quebec context, the RQSHA pursues the following objectives :

  • Promote research on suicide and suicidal behavior, mood disorders, associated disorders and their treatment, screening and prevention among individuals and populations at risk;
  • Design, develop and maintain in operation platforms, specimen and data banks and common tools useful for achieving the objectives and activities of the Réseau;
  • Support research on the neurobiological, developmental, clinical, psychosocial and socio-cultural factors associated with suicide and suicidal behavior, mood disorders and associated disorders;
  • Promote translational studies aimed at validating research results and their application in interventions with young and adult clinical populations at risk of suicide;
  • Contribute to the development of clinical knowledge and practices relating to the detection and prevention of suicide and suicidal behavior, mood disorders and associated disorders;
  • Promote and facilitate the development of a pool of clinician-researchers with expertise specific to the field of suicide, suicidal behavior, mood and associates through training dedicated to doctors, nurses and other professionals working with people at risk;
  • Develop a knowledge transfer program for partners, practitioners, decision makers and stakeholders in the field of suicide, suicidal behavior, mood and associated disorders.
