Guide d’évaluation de la personne à risque suicidaire (GERIS)

The Quebec Network for Suicide, Mood Disorders and Related Disorders has collaborated with the Mental Health and Addictions Directorate and the Nursing Directorate of the Montreal West Island CIUSSS, as well as with the McGill Group for Suicide Studies, to create the “Guide d’évaluation de la personne à risque suicidaire” (GERIS).

This guide, which was made possible through contributions from Dr. Gustavo Turecki, Chief of Psychiatry for the Montreal West Island IUHSSC and Scientific Director of the Douglas Hospital Research Centre, and his team, was produced following a long and rigorous process. The guide enables healthcare professionals to take various concepts, factors and contexts into consideration when evaluating the risk of suicide and when designing an intervention plan. Moreover, the guide is consistent with other research work carried out by researchers, physicians and professionals, such as Dr. Stéphane Richard-Devantoy and psychologist Monique Séguin. Thanks to the contribution of these researchers, the GERIS will undergo further validation processes to ensure its effectiveness.
