Created in 2009 by founding director Dr. Gustavo Turecki and co-directed by Dr. Alain Lesage until 2019, our Network brings together researchers from different research backgrounds under a common umbrella in order to investigate suicide, mood disorders and its interface with substance disorders using a large variety of complementary methods and conceptual approaches. Our Network gathers considerable experience and is composed of individual researchers who have well-established track records in their area of expertise. By bringing these researchers together, we create a unique fertile environment that facilitates excellence on multidisciplinary research and brings about a series of academic and community-based initiatives centered on dissemination and capacity building, all of which, together with the work to be promoted by the priority research themes, groups and platforms will continue to foster national and international excellence and leadership on suicide, its intersection with substance disorders and promote high-quality research on mood disorders.
