Michael Meaney PhD is James McGill Professor of psychiatry at McGill University. He is world-renowned for his pioneering work on the effect of maternal care on biological processes. He was the first to identify the importance of early-life environmental experience on the expression of genes that regulate behavioral and neuroendocrine responses to stress, as well as hippocampal synaptic development, which led to studies of environmental regulation of genes.
