Improvement in the accessibility of psychotherapy in Quebec

The RQSHA applauds the recent announcement of an improvement in accessibility of psychotherapy in the province.  This improvement will impact suicide prevention, as the majority of people who die by suicide suffered from a mental disorder, while a majority do not receive treatment for their disease.

« Mental disorders affect the lives of thousands of Quebecers.  Since 2014, we have shown our willingness to improve the quality of life of these people.  With this new modern and structured approach, we will offer increased services inspired by best practices.  A new Québec is insuring of the best possible access to mental health care.  This is what we are doing by implementing this first phase of a public program in psychotherapy.  »

Gaétan Barrette, Minister of Health and Social Services
